Welcome to our website, which documents the genesis of the first residence in South Carolina to apply for LEED certification.  This site is intended not only for our family and friends, but for anyone interested in green construction.  We hope that by sharing our experiences, publicizing the people who are making it all possible, and documenting our mistakes as well as our successes, others will realize that building a residence with a small carbon footprint that is sustainable over the long term is not an esoteric dream, but a reality that you can begin TODAY.  In addition, we want others to realize that a green house doesn’t begin and end at straw bales with a solar panel over the top-this house is a luxury residence, yet it will use less energy than the average home, generate a significant amount of its own electricity, and have less impact on the environment in terms of building materials, site disturbance, and water usage.
